Kevin Coyle is an American football coach with a background in both college and professional coaching. He has served as a defensive coordinator for several NFL teams including the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills.
Coyle began his coaching career in the college ranks, spending time at various universities such as Syracuse, Maryland, and Fresno State where he primarily worked with the defensive backs. He made the jump to the NFL in 2001 when he was hired by the Cincinnati Bengals as their defensive backs coach.
In 2012, Coyle was promoted to defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins where he spent three seasons before being let go by the team in 2015. He then had brief stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills before returning to the college level to coach at LSU.
Coyle's defensive schemes have been praised for their versatility and ability to adapt to different opponents. He is known for his work ethic, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills.
